How to use an ELECTRIC toothbrush (the right way)

– [Announcer] The electric
toothbrush is far better than a standard manual
brush when removing bacteria and other debris from your teeth. In fact, it is far better
in many applications. Self effleurage or auto massage is perhaps my favorite off label use. I turn on the power, firmly
grasp the brush head, and I'm off to the races. A standard brush simply
does not have the reach nor horsepower to get the job done. As the electric toothbrush was designed for bacteria removal,
I use it for just that to debride and disinfect
areas that my standard cleaning supplies have never touched. (soft quiet music) After my nightly hygiene routine, I bring it along with me to the bedroom as a symbolic gun under my pillow. What an incredibly versatile tool the electric toothbrush truly is. (electric toothbrush buzzing) While I may not be your typical dentist, I'm not that weird. Here's how to actually use
an electric toothbrush. (upbeat contemporary music) We're heading down to the clinic but first we're gonna need some stuff. (windshield window scraping) (cheerful music) All right so we're all set up.

All we need now is just a beautiful model to suddenly appear in our chair. Wouldn't that be nice. Well would you look at that. How convenient. Let's get started. First thing you need to understand is that teeth are not flat. They have all these little
grooves and pits in them and it's important to make
sure you clean them out. The best way to do this
is just to make sure that you change the
direction of the brush head while cleaning your teeth.

Surprisingly though the tops of the teeth where the pits and the
grooves are isn't where we capture the most plaque in our mouth. In fact, by using a special dye, we can find exactly where the
most plaque is being captured and that happens to be
right at the gum line. Now we're gonna jump right
into the brushing technique. What I've found works the
best is to actually engage the bristles underneath the gum line and then sweep up and away from the gums. This ensures that we can
disturb the bacteria biofilm at the gum line and then flush it away. I'm gonna let this clip
play to the very end just to give you guys an idea of
how long it actually takes to get this kind of
plaque off the gum line. Now in order to actually
engage into the gum line, it's really important that
you use the correct angle. Here we can see the incorrect technique. What we would like to see is
angling the brush 45 degrees up towards the gums as
to allow the bristles to engage underneath. When this is done, you
can see the bacteria can be effectively removed from
the gums and you can keep yourself nice and free of inflammation.

Your teeth have a lot of
surfaces so it's really important to get to them all. With the top molars in the back, we won't be able to clean
them if you open all the way. Make sure you close half
way to get at them properly. Well, there you have it folks. That is how to use an electric toothbrush. Honest for real this time. I'm going to be making
a whole lot more videos on both health and film making, so make sure to subscribe
so you don't miss out. You can join me for the ride. It's going to be awesome. Gonna be great stuff coming, so thank you so much for watching. And until next time, we will
see you in the next video..
